Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier. I just went to off ice training and then had to pick my brother up from the airport (he brought back Krispy Kreme doughnuts from the East coast!!!!!!! ). Anyway, yeah, I reckon my sixteenth will be fun. But I won't get a car. My family can't afford it But I will get my learner's permit, which means I get to start learning to drive. I really don't want to. Something tells me I might be a slightly dangerous driver...

Oh don't worry! How was the doughnuts? I haven't had Krispy kreme in years! I think you will be a great driver! I didn't get a car at first but I got one a few weeks afterwards, I have to pay for half of my insurance though, good thing I have a job!

They were delicious Of course, nothing beats Tim Horton's, but ANYTHING from over there beats Australian doughnuts by FAR. Well thanks, but I'm not so sure I'm gonna be very safe out on the road... That's cool! The thing is, my parents would probably make me pay for everything (they might pay a tiny bit) so it'll be a LONG time before I get a car of my own. Haha, I don't have a job, so that's going to be a problem for me... but I have been doing a bit of work at my dad's office, which gets me SOME money at least

i'm turning 16 in july. my birthday present is a week in london . actually, i'm almost more excited for that than for the rest of my vacation, since my grandfather fell and broke 3 ribs and will be... shall we say grumpy all summer. *shudders* he's grumpy enough the rest of the time...

You get to go to London for your 16th birthday? That's awesome. I'm jealous. I wish I had been that lucky to get something like that when I was sixteen.

About the grandparents, they have a right to be grumpy. I mean they've been around for 60-70+ years, they've been through a lot. And now they're not able to do a lot of the things that they use to could do. Plus certain things don't work the way they use to either if you get what I'm saying. If I had to go through all the things that older people did, I'd be grumpy too. And probably will be by the time I get to be that age. Though I'm hoping that I'll be more like my grandparents when I'm older, they're never grumpy or mean. They're awesome old people.

Wow, London? That's awesome! My sixteenth birthday present won't be anything like that. In fact, it's been more than two months since my fifteenth birthday, and I still haven't gotten my present for that one yet. I'm getting a new desk, hopefully, so whenever I can drag my mom out to Ikea...

I agree with you about the grandparents thing, Lauren. They've been through more than all of us, so we judge them a little too harshly sometimes. My grandparents are pretty cool, but I always wish I had leather-clad, motorcycle-riding, slang-speaking grandparents, or hippies or something Mine are just kind of average.

yeah. i'm uber excited ! but a new desk is cool. they're useful and they live in places where you can get to them easily and i'm not making any sense so i'm going to stop this sentence and move on...

yeah, i agree with that too. three of 4 grandparents are hardly ever grumpy, but my grandfather on my dad's side is a bit hard to live with. but yeah, i hope i won't be grumpy when i get older. that would be bad and i wouldn't be able to live with myself.

i know ava. but i can get my permit as soon as my parents get themselves and me to the DMV, so i'm fluctuating between being psyched and terrified.

my grandfather is eating himself to death because my grandmother dies years ago, just over a week before my birthday, my dads dad (granfather) died a few months ago, but i never knew him, coz he was an I swear like a sailor!. and my great grandmother dies about a year ago.

Lindz, I'm sure we're just overreacting, but I still can't cope with the idea of being in control of a big, speeding hunk of metal, so I don't know how comfortable I'll be behind the wheel. You never know; maybe I'll unleash a hidden talent! (I highly doubt that, though... )
