My math teacher explains things really well too (or at least, better than the teacher from last year) but then she gives us extra homework that makes no sense. And yeah, I know what you mean - my class (the "Academically Talented" class) has to do harder - and more - work than all the other classes, in every single subject. I had to write three essays yesterday. It was horrible. And now they're already throwing another assignment on us in humanities, which involves a lot of public speaking. We all got put into groups and assigned to a country, and we have to reenact the Berlin conference of 1898. We got Germany. It should be okay, but it's going to take a LOT of preparation.

yeah. i hate bad math teachers: they make me hate math even more than i already do. that's the main problem with honors classes: you have to do hard stuff in every subject, not just one. *sigh* three essays?! i'm sorry! the humanities project sounds... interesting. we had to do something kind of like that last year: we each got a country and we had to prepare resolutions and everything. it was hard!

Bad math teachers are horrible. Math is one of those subjects where you really need a good teacher to do well, because otherwise you just don't understand the work. I don't hate math, because it's fairly straightforward compared to other subjects (there can only be one right answer, unlike in English or Social Studies) and I'm okay at it, but it just annoys me sometimes, when the work gets tricky. Yeah, that was pretty bad. I kind of gave up towards the end of the second one, and the third one was just a lost argument and a load of blabber. That sounds a lot like what we're doing. And yeah, it's a bit complicated. With ours we have to fight over Africa and decide who gets what, except we can't resort to war or conflict. So far our group has decided to dress up and do a German dance, and then bully the other countries until they give us the biggest amount of land. We also thought we might bring in a cake shaped like Africa (in some reading we read there was a quote about the "African cake") and cut the biggest part for ourselves, and then tell the other countries they can have some if they give us most of the real Africa Razz

yeah, i know. for me, it's a get it or fail it kind of subject. i'm okay at it, but i hate it with a passion. numbers don't make sense to me the way words do. well, since you are an author, i bet you can write pretty good fluff. a lot of my essays are complete and utter fluff. it's pathetically funny, actually. wait, you have to fight without resorting to conflict? that sounds... interesting. i like you idea Very Happy. or you could invite them on here and post things in big letter in pretty colors. that would be fun Razz.

I understand completely. Words make WAY more sense than numbers. You're right about the fluff - my third essay was a completely stupid, emotional rant about the "darkness hanging over Africa" because of what the Europeans did all that time ago, and blah blah blah... I'll be surprised if I get a level two (we have a strange marking system here, so don't ask Razz) Yeah, we were all shocked - we want to have a full-on war to determine who gets which countries. Stupid Belgium are being all sly and trying to grab the Congo for themselves, just because it's got the best resources. Well I think Germany should just glare at them until they give it up. And yeah, I think that idea about the colourful text would be pretty fun Very Happy

oh yeah, they totally do! i know people who would think i was crazy for saying that, though. (crazier, that is Razz). that essay sounds... interesting. is level two good or bad? full on wars sound like fun. guess they don't want you getting too violent. evil belgians. don't they realize it's hopeless? that would work too. how's your evil glare? it would be fun for us too!

Definitely. Heaps of people think I'm a total lunatic (sorry, even more of a total lunatic - if that's possible Razz) for being so crazy about books and writing. When they found out I'd written a fifteen page "short" story for my English project last year, they were all like, "Sam, you should write a novel!" to which I responded, "I am writing one!" and they just rolled their eyes. Level two is horrible, by the way. We're supposed to be getting fives or sixes, or even sevens, seeing as we're the ATPs. Full on wars would be good, but you're right (I almost wrote "write," lol) our teachers are too "civil." It would be interesting to see them at lunchtime in the staff room... Razz The Belgians are evil. We're trying to make alliances right now, but it's kind of tricky. We were originally going to make France and Portugal our allies, but then we ditched them and went for Great Britain and Spain, I think. We're still kind of iffy on that, though. Personally I think we should all gang up on Belgium, but then that's just my opinion. My evil glare is quite good. People are scared of it. It most certainly would Very Happy

you can always be more of a lunatic than you already are. it's all a question of perspective. i finally learned how to write proper short stories, but i'm still not good at them. i much prefer novels. people are always like, "wow, you're writing a novel?!" when i tell them, which gets old. (as does people asking me if i can do a triple axel when they learn i skate Rolling Eyes). oh. well, i hope you get better than a two, then! i'd love to see my teachers in the staff room. it would be a major reality check to learn that they actually had lives Razz. good luck with your allegiances. i like the idea of ganging up on the belgians: it sounds like a sound plan. i can manage evil glares when i need to. i like it when people are scared of me: it makes me feel superior! you should totally go for the huge font in pretty colors option. or stick with the cake.

PostSubject: Re: Alice Cult Color part 2:   Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:07 am

That's true. Sadly - or not - I think I'm just going to keep getting crazier and crazier... but that's a good thing in some ways, isn't it? I still can't write short stories. They all end up as "to be continued" or else they just don't have a proper, flowing plot. I'm overdescriptive. I recently entered a story contest where the limit was 100 FREAKING WORDS! It had no plot, but it turned out okay. I wrote another one for a competition where first prize is $1,000 and a choice of a Wii, a Nintendo DS and a bunch of other cool stuff. I was quite proud of the story I wrote for that one, even though I somehow managed to make up a word... I get really annoyed by people who think skating is easy. Whenever I'm talking about Ice Princess and how stupid it is, they're all like, "Yeah, but I mean, it is possible!" and then I practically yell at them and storm off. I'd like to see whether my teachers actually have lives too. Especially the librarians. They're complete vultures, and their lives are dedicated to protecting their sacred books and telling people about their beloved eLibrary thing. It does seem like a good plan, doesn't it? I love feeling superior Twisted Evil it's a very good feeling. I would love to bring them on here and try out the huge pretty fonts, but somehow I don't think they'd be too keen on that. The cake would be good though Very Happy

nothing wrong with that. so long as you've embraced your inner craziness, that is Very Happy. plot is hard in short stories. i tend to do snapshot moments. that's why i like fanfic so much: you don't have to explain things nearly as much! 100 words?! that's nothing! *grrr* i hate word limits! what word did you make up? i make up a lot of words. too tired to remember them now, but they're fun words. that bugs me too! ice princess is no more possible than a five year old writing harry potter. i could happen, but only in once in two blue moons, so basically, it wouldn't happen. i saw my chem teacher at my brother's school play. it was scary! i was like, "holy... is that mr. brooks? oh my god, it is!" *shudder* it is a good feeling. i enjoy it immensely. you're right, they probably wouldn't like it. go for the cake. then you get free food Very Happy.

Well I've definitely embraced my inner craziness. Snapshot moments! That's exactly the way to describe the way I write short stories! You're right about fanfics - the background history is already there. And the 100 word one was horrible. I hate word limits too, they're completely useless. Well I don't think I made it up, but it was "primely" and Microsoft Word told me it wasn't a word. I make up a lot of words too Razz You're soooo write about that Ice Princess/Harry Potter comparison - that's exactly how I'd put it! It's weird seeing teachers when they're not in their usual environment. At our river cruises (beginning of year social event things) the teachers are all dressed up, and it's always really strange. Too true, about the free food. And we already decided that Germany would take most of the cake for ourselves Very Happy

it would be scary if you hadn't, seeing as it's bursting out at random moments! my mom doesn't get that about fanfic. she's all like, "that's cheating. why don't you spend your time writing your own characters?" she just doesn't understand... i know! i once had to write a book report in french in no more than 400 words. the teachers said "passť composť" and it was horrible! i just wrote it and then cut it down, and when i looked at the first draft, it was a page and a half  it was sad! my best word is "unfindable" which should be a word but isn't! i know! it's like seeing your teacher over the summer! i actually stayed at my teacher's house one summer ! it was frightening! yay free food! and germany should totally get it all!

True. I may be insane, but at least I have it under control... reasonably. That's what my mom says too. She says it's plagerism, no matter how many times I try to assure her that there are no copyright breaches involved whatsoever. That must have sucked. I hate trying to cut things down, especially in French, when every sentence is crucial (in English I tend to blab a lot, and include things that don't really matter). Lol, that should be a word, because there isn't really a synonym for it (that I can think of, anyway). "Hidden" would be the closest thing, and that doesn't even quite cover it. You stayed at your teacher's house? How did that happen? Yeah, free food is good Very Happy And I agree, especially seeing as we are the hosts of the conference (actually, Belgium is hosting it, but for some strange reason it's taking place in Berlin, Germany)

umm, i think we're pretty bad too Razz.

sam, reasonably is relative. and you don't know under control until one of your personalities is hyper and the other two aren't. Rolling Eyes it's... an interesting feeling. it's only plagiarism if you try to sell it, and we're not. why can't parents understand these things? It sucked majorly! there are just fewer ways to say things in french, so i always use more words that i can't cut down! it should so be a word! and yeah, "hidden" doesn't quite cut it. i don't remember exactly how it happened, but she was on vacation too, and for some reason, i was flying back with her. so i stayed at her house for a couple days. the house was HUGE, too! yay free food Very Happy. that's weird. evil belgium Razz. at least you will be on home turf. you can always say they've insulted some obscure german custom and say that you take their part of africa as compensation.

Haha, you guys should try to read some of our posts sometime. They're not that hard to understand, really... okay, so they're pure gibberish. But you never know, if you're as weird as we are, then you might just be able to read our language Very Happy

The annoying thing, Anne, is that the stupid conference thing was today, and I was at a writers' workshop thing, so I missed it (don't worry, my teachers knew). I didn't get to partake in any of the fun Sad

And now in response to your long paragraph...

That must be strange. But I don't have any reign at all over my multiple personalities (I don't even know which ones are which, or how many there are) so I wouldn't know which ones are acting up. That's true, but parents just don't get it. Parents don't get anything, unless you explain it in complete detail - and even then they don't get it, sometimes. French is a bit of an annoying language at times, because of the lack of adjectives and accurate verbs, but it's a whole lot easier than Japanese (I tried that in grade 8 and 9, and I sucked). That would be weird with your teacher, but free food is always a bonus! And yeah, Belgium is evil, and that would have been a great idea, only I missed the dumb conference Mad Oh well... Razz

Haha, it would have been fun, but I missed it. I was at a writers' workshop thing, which had already been scheduled for that day since... well, ages back. Now we're talking about globalization... *sigh* Well, if I'm asked to define it, I'll be saying: "Well, um, globalization is sharing crazy ideas online with vampire fanatics and plotting to kill the people who try to sabotage our communication." I'm just in such an unacademic (not a word... Razz) state of mind lately (always) that I can't concentrate on stuff like that. I only concentrate on the here and now!
