i loved how much more jasper there was in BD, but my favorite chapter of all time is still his story in eclipse.

and going (way) back to the fanfic thing, i think what was more fanfic-"y" than renesmee was how little trouble bella had as a vampire. i was actually really disappointed about that. i thought stephenie seemed to be going the easy route. it would have been much better if bella had had more trouble. though that wouldn't have worked at ALL with the plot... but still, i felt like she turned into bella-sue instead of the bella we know and love. (bella-sue is a variation of mary-sue, who's that perfect character, usually written by teenage girls, who's better/prettier/more talented than everyone else and bursts into the scene in time to save the day and capture the main guy's heart.) stephenie did a good job of avoiding that until BD, but then, imo, she couldn't bring herself to write bella's transition like that, and so went the bella-sue route...

about jake and leah and nessie- YES!! i've wanted a new moon from jake's POV for a long time now, but i'll settle for a sequel in his POV. or both. nothing wrong with both... and i really did start liking leah. i've kinda liked her all along, just because she's the only girl wolf... shapeshifter... but now i really love her.

Oh ku-DOS to the Bella sue thing! I was proud of myself I got it before I read your explanation, but I thought it was clever lol. I didn't really notice that Bella didn't have trouble really until you pointed it out... but now that I think about it, it was pretty ghey.

It kinda makes sense though because her vamp power is protecting people, so she's not a killer. And even when she was a human, the smell of blood disgusted her, so I guess it carried over.

But yes. BD = fanfic = dissappointment to Skylar.

yep but what i think is that stephenie meyer didnt really have the guts to kill someone or make it unhappy for anyone i think that if there was a little depressing stuff it might be a little better...... i hope you guys get what im saying cause then i probably sound like a freak.... but all well i guess its kinda hard to explain

i get what you're saying and I agree. Also... I've said this many times but I just think she should've gone a different route than the Nessie route.

Vampgirl18 (what's your name, by the way. if you don't mind telling me, of course!), i agree with you that she should have made it a bit more depressing. not new moon depressing, of course, but at least give the impression of struggling some. it seemed way, way too easy. and the best part of nessie is that she and jake make good fanfic material: when jake starts aging again, there's going to be a problem since she's immortal (we think). since vampire venom's poison to them...

sky, the lack of adjusting issues stuck out to me right away. i'm like jasper: i kept thinking that she should be having more trouble. i figured that she wouldn't, 'cause it's not stephenie's style to have her suddenly go newborn on someone she loves, but it was really frustrating to me. i suppose that logically it makes sense, but emotionally i wanted her to have a hard time.

i think the main problem with BD was that we all wanted it so badly. it was like the 7th harry potter: it's so eagerly anticipated that of course lots of people are going to be disappointed. it's not physically possible for an author to live up to her/his readers' expectations with something like this, especially since said readers don't usually have a concrete notion of what they actually want (or at least, i don't). so they can't meet the expectations and so people are disapointed.

though that doesn't stop me from wishing she'd done it differently...

(p.s. i think she's rubbing off on me: i can't seem to talk about this book in short posts... or maybe that's just me with writer's block. the words have to come out somehow!)

Um, ok. So it was pretty depressing. Like when Bella was practically dieing and Edward was pleading Jacob to talk her out of this and Jacob decribed him as looking like a man burning at the stake THAT was depressing ENOUGH!!! And when they said there goodbyes to Nessie when they thought the Voultri would kill them that added onto it.

And of course not everybody's gonna love it. Stephine even said herself "No matter what you do somebody's gonna hate it." And I kinda wanted her to have a harder time but I felt kinda proud like Edward when she stopped hunting the humans even after she smelled them

i agree that there were depressing parts, i just... i don't know. i didn't feel them as much. -shrug- it would have been more effective emotionally if she'd written part 2 from edward's POV, but that would have cut out jake's story, which is important, plus it would have been way too painful, both to read and to write. since edward reacts so strongly to anything concerning bella, it would have been just horrid. but effective.

i know not everyone will love it. that's practically impossible, especially considering the size of her fanbase. unfortunately, that's life... -sigh-

Edward's POV would have sent all of us into a deep dark place...

yeah im actually really glad it came from jacobs pov, i mean seriously i love edward to death but remember at that time he was "the burning man". and extremely depressed... poor edward:( plus i actually really enjoyed learning more about the pack and about imprinting and leah and stuff:) i have a new liking to jacob now, i dont hate him anymore!

Yeah i know. i don't hate him much. I found a Team jacob shirt and considerd buying it but then I found a Team Edward and yeah.

Edward's POV would have been really depressing (which in my opinion, would be really awesome, but the book is gruesome enough without having edward's POV)
