Edward not being able to read Bella's mind

is it a good thing or a bad one?

i think it's a good thing,it would really bite to be her if he could. i love Edward but he has a temper, it's really best that he doesn't hear what she thinks, i don't think any relationship would work if one or both people knew what the other thought all the time. when you throw those two's personalitys into it -shiver. Bella would be mad because of the privicy issues and Edward would get mad about what she was thinking( he'd be likly to have alice 'babysite' her for the rest of eturnity (if anyone could get hurt as a vampire it'd be her)). his being able to read her mind could cause damage equivalent to that of a tornado, during a huricane, while it was lightning, thundering and hailing out too! lol. couse from a readers point of veiw it would be interesting! lol!

oh and Ed would get such an ego bost from how she goes on and on about him! he's smug enough already lol! in his wonderful super attractive way, of course!

i agree, i think that its right the way that it is.

I think its a good thing... Its a great thing.. Personally I'd hate it if anyone could read my mind... You'd always have a lack of privacy and I'd hate that. But he would get an ego boost and he doesnt need that
I agree that there would be problems in their relationship if he could read her mind but if she could read his, I think that would even up the playing field. But she still has young, human thoughts and they could possible set of his temper and his mature, over thought thoughts would probably set her off too!!! lol

not to mention he would see that he did infact have feelings for jacob and no matter what vampire, werewolf or normal guy...its never a good thing for anyone to know. besides thats what makes her different, that he has to be "normal" with her because he cant just know what she wants. he has to do everything the old fashioned way.
also...does anyone else think that if bella becomes a vamp. her special power will be dreaming?

dreaming, what do you mean dreaming? i know alot of her dreams are deep and almost seems to tell the future but i dout that will be her power seeing as alice already can do that. be sides vamires dont dream, unless you mean day deaming.

i do mean day dreaming. and not necessarily like alice. not quite telling the future. its more of a mix between alice and edward. her dreams are deep but she can almost feel what they feel. i think it could be a possibility but then she could have no unusual powers at all.

its a good thing for everyone, bella would hate that he knew her thoughts, like the time she thought for a second that edward should take a bite out of a human so he would live through the fight with the newborns, and if he knew how much pain she had been in when he left and how scared she was whenever he left to go hunting in eclipse! remember when jacob thought about her pain and it hurt edward like when jane got him, imagin him going through that every time he left to eat!

yeah... especially when she wished he could feed on a human so he could survive. But yeah.. after she saw the pain he was in when Jacob was thinging about the pain that shed been in and I dont think she would want to see him in that pain again. Or the pain that he would be in when she thought of Jacob... I think she wouldnt want him to be hurt by that either

I just have to say that if Edward could read Bella's mind then he wouldn't be as attracted to her and probably would have fell to the temptation of drinking her blood.

all really good points! i wonder if any relationship would have ever developed if he could read her mind, i dont thing it would have. i wonder if it would make it easyer for him to turn her if he could see how very much she cared for him, or if he would only see her aprehentions and douts and refuse to do it? and would being able to know exactly where he and jake stand with her make it easyer on him or would he be more worried about their relationship then? what do you think?

that's what I was saying, no relationship would have happened because she would have seemed like every other girl to him if he could read her mind, except that she would taste better.

and I think if he saw where him and Jacob stand in her mind that that would make him push her away, or force her into being with Jacob.

although he would finally accept that Bella loves him (which ended up happening in New Moon by itself) faster then what he did.

probably harder for changing her though. He would be able to see every decision shes made and what she's given up for him, through her eyes and how hard it was for her. I think he would have insisted on not changing her.

I think that edward would be really mad if he knew what Bella was thinking at all times your rigght a realationship would never work out between them she better be glad he can't shes lucky!!

i think that they still would have been together even if he could read her mind, true love.

Although i do think that things are better they way that they are, where he cant read her mind.

I wouldnt want him to have to realize how she had been when he left her in new moon.

And i think that it would create more problems then it could solve.

Yeah... I agree totally... Its mainly about what happened in New Moon... But then again, while he would have been able to see how she saw it... It mihgt have been more painful to see it from Jacobs point of view... Seeing her like that and all... And because she didnt know how bad she actually was... She didnt know the full extent of her pain and how she was seen by Charlie and all that.

They would ahve ended up together because they definately belong together but it would have been a little different if he could read her mind. He would have had to fight the urge to feed on her harder i reckon... Because she intrigued him HEAPS because he couldnt see what she was about to do next and he was interested in that you know... Im just babbling.. just excuse me... lol!!! I'm too passionate about it all.... I think we all are I LOVE IT!!! I'm cant stop typing.. lol!! But Bella and Edward would have always ended up together!!!

Bad because of what edward,bite-me said. If he could read her mind he would know how much worse and un-safe it was for him to stay away. Also because he wold've known she wasn't dead and would never have gone to Italy to try to get himself killed.

i dont know, i mean edward can only hear people from so far, maybe if it was nessasary he could have heard her from far away. but would he have tryed, or if he did would it have mattered, i could she him convincing himself that his mind was making him hear her so he wouldnt kill himself. then no one other than bell herself could save him and we're back to where we started. plus the Itlay thing showed him as well as her mind would how devoted she is and, other than the whole i nearly had a heart attack over that idiotic boy of ours, bella will dout him less to i think. i loved Italy so maybe thats why im standing up for it, lol!

You are right . I loved the Italy part. It also showed how much they love eachother. The Italy part was defintitaly a great part.

i get really paranoid about it actully! a really random thought will pop into my head and ill be like what if someone here really could read minds and they just heard that! OMG! then the thought runs through like five more times when i think of how dreadful it would be if someone heard it and i completly freak! its really horrible, lol! i get really paranoid some times, lol. i think it would be even worse if i know the person could read my mind!

on the other hand........
if i was Alice i would blast him with gay guys making out and what ever(humm...yaoi) of the blue, it would be fun! or choice selections of tawdry romance novels, Eeek! trhink how that would get under his skin, oh it would be wonderful!!!-insert evil laugh!

I freak out like that too!!! I always do that in math and stuff.

It would be kind of fun to torture him with that. lol.
