| I don't know about you guys, but personally I was just the slightest bit disappointed with the ending. A few things were left hanging - such as what's going to happen when Jacob stops aging - and nothing... I don't know, unexpected really happened. It was a little too perfect if you ask me. It's not that I wanted anybody to die, but it was almost as though Stephenie didn't have the guts to kill anybody off. I can understand that - I would DEFINITELY have trouble with that if I wrote a book - but it just felt like there was something missing. Maybe it's just that I read too many books that end with mass character death.
Don't get me wrong - it was a brilliant book, and the ending was nice. I think it could just use a few more twists and things.
Any thoughts? | |

| I completely agree. I usually don't like endings that are just like "oh yay everything's perfect!" and so I was kind of disappointed with the ending of BD, I was just kind of scared to say it on here cuz everyone else seems to love it.
But yeah I also thought it seemed really random. I mean, the entire book there's all this tension and "omg, you could die any second!" and all of the sudden, it was just lifted. There was nothing to ease it out. It just seemed really sudden and unnatural to me.

| ya, personally i wanted some main character to die... (Alice, Emmett, Rose, Bella.....) but all we get is Irina, and was it just me or did everyone else see that coming? and (sorry for the comparison, but its necessary to prove a point) even JK Rowling said she thought about killing off Harry, the freakin main character but whatevs.... but yes it totally could have had more twists, i like the books that have me staring at the page, mouth totally agape, rereading something like 8 times, Breaking Dawn had me crying, not astonished it was good though, it just shouldnt be the ending of the series, there should be another placed like 100 years in the future or something, but hey thats what fanfic is for right? | |

| JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I LOVE THE BOOK THE WAY IT IS! but... i thought that there should've been a real fight between them and the volturi, and jacob would have to run with Renesmee (even though i would have BAWLED bc edward ad bella would have to leave little Nessie ) and then stepehnie could've dne more about them having to go and find jacob and renesmee and show the next book in bella and jacobs pov again, jacob on the run, bella and edward trying to find them, idk im kinda making this up as i go along rotfl. | |

| k this is going slightly off topic, so lets not dicuss this very far, but personally the part in Jacob's POV was by far my fav. part of the entire series and you know it took me like 50 pages to realize he had imprinted, i kinda zoned at the end of his book, so i didnt realize it, then i got to where i think when he was standing in front of Nessie to realize it and i flipped back to the last page of his part and was like CRAP! How did i miss that?!?!?! | |

| haha yeah it actually took me a while too. i flipped back as soon as i figured it out too
but yeah I think that the book could've been more intense. I just didn't really like how everything just worked out so randomly. It should've been harder for them.
I guess I'm glad it's a happy ending, but I wish it took them a little more work to get that happy ending... It felt like it was handed to them. I wanted a vamp fight!

| I wanted them to fight the Volturi. I wanted action! Destruction even. I mean it's the last book, right? More or less. They needed to go out with a BANG! I didn't necessarily want a main character to die, but I think it would have added more to the story. Irina's death just wasn't enough(and yes, I saw that coming-it was kind of obvious) I didn't hate the book, but I was a bit disappointed with the whole thing, not just the ending... | |

| i agree. i think the book needs a diferent end. i prefer a huge battle between them and volturi, and one off them die, and all the volturi less their royalty status. that is the perfect end. | |

| Yeah, action would have been good. I guess she wanted that to be the end of the series, so she had to wrap it all up, but that doesn't necessarily giving them a 'happily ever after,' as she so inconspicuously pointed out in the last chapter I saw that coming, too. Irina was kind of introduced pointlessly and then killed off pointlessly, which is the kind of thing authors seem to do when they don't want to kill the characters they've grown attached to. The cool thing is that I know somebody with that name in real life (and they're not particularly pleasant) and when she died in the book, I was like, "Well, isn't that... ironic." I can already tell this is going to be a long post but I want to comment on a lot of things, so I'll go on for a bit... With the Harry Potter comparison, I've thought about that too. I was talking to my (completely oblivious) friend about the ending, and when I said Steph didn't kill off any of the characters and I was kind of ticked about that, her brother was like, "J.K. Rowling didn't do that either." Seriously! Does he even REALISE how many characters died in the last book?? Then again, they come from a Christian family and they're not allowed to read the Harry Potter books... but then he shouldn't be commenting on things he doesn't know about. But yeah, that's why I think Rowling kind of had more... I don't know, backbone, maybe, as a writer, because she could cope with killing off long-term characters. Part of writing is being detached from the story at the same time as being involved in it. That isn't to say that Steph isn't an amazing writer, 'cause she is, but I'm just exploring some different points. Ava - I liked Jacob's part the best, too. I LOVED the chapter names, especially. And I definitely saw the imprinting thing coming right after he laid eyes on her, but then I couldn't be sure until I heard somebody actually say it (or read it... whatever ). Whew. Why do my posts always end up so long? I think I need to take lessons or something on how to keep my rants short... | |

| I don't think she had to nessicarily kill off any of the main characters, but I wanted more people to die, sick as that sounds. It just seemed too perfect for my liking though. And really, I wouldn't be that mad about main characters dying as long as it wasn't Alice, Jasper, Bella, Edward, Jacob, Leah, or Seth. Lol. | |

Actually, I could stand it if she died. I feel horrible saying it, but really, she was a really new character and didn't even develope much so it's not like I knew her personally or anything...

| but this book really showed me that Stephanie can write one heck of an ending. I mean really she always pulls it out in the most impossible way. though my favorite ending of all time by her was The Host ending but I love the Twilight books better. Heck I love all her writing | |

| i totally agree! i hated the ending to the book it wasn't at all what i wanted or expected. i thought the whole thing was kinda stupid and to much unlike the rest of the books for my taste, honestly it wouldn't be hard for me to believe that steph got abducted by aliens and held hostage for a while and they wrote the book. lmao the beginning was fien and the middle wasn't so bad but the ending was by far my least fave part of the series other than new moon | |
