Jaspers' motives

my example, in eclipse bella says that it is her... unworded thought that Jasper is only there for alice.
This makes sense, but id like to know peoples opinions on do you think that he would stay if, say, alice died.
Is he really in it just for alice, and his bond with the cullen family as low as he's bond with maria..
Or...
Is he actually one of the cullens, no matter what?
Would he leave, would he stay??

I think he is one of the Cullens for sure. Mo matter what happened I think he would stay with them. They are his family. He can't just turn on them and leave.

Yeah. I see what yolur saying. He really only came to them because Alice saw him in a vision and brought him to the Cullens.

But I still think that over the years there bond has grown and he wouldn't leave. Or at least not just ditch them and just see them once in a while.

Also, where would he go?? If he did leave?

if something happened to alice i think it would be realy hard for him to stay with the cullens and not move into the depression that alice saved him from
but i think that he has come to realy care about the cullens and like alice said in new moon "... if the Volturi kill Edward, they'll fight them ..." he would fight a lossing battle for them

I agree. Alice was the one to save him but Jasper has defintitly gotten close to the Cullens. He has nobody else in the world for him. Where would he go if she did die? The Cullens are his family now and forever.

i think he would stay, that is after he had avenged however alice had died,if only to make alice proud.

I sort of agree... if Alice died, Jasper would probably try to go with her. I know he's got a very different personality to Edward, but even so, the idea of living for eternity without his soulmate is exactly the same as what Edward thought he was going through.

And as for his bond with the Cullens, I don't think Jasper is quite as committed as the others, but he's definitely wholeheartedly connected to the family. He's just a little drawn back, that's all. He's got a lot of unrest going on inside. But if Alice died - hypothetically speaking, of course, because I refuse to believe the words in the book if she dies for some ridiculous reason or another - then I think he would stay with the Cullens, if he didn't try to die himself. He's part of the family.

it could have been because he didnt know about the volturi, but he could have gone back and had maria kill him.

i think he would try to stay alive, but he might get sick of it and go off himself

Jasper kept going after Maria because HE was the one who left HER.... If Alice died (sniff.. It will never happen) then I think he would avenge her death, and then stay with the Cullens... but I think it would be hard for him to... I think he might do what Edward did in New Moon... wander off and visit every now and then... or he'll have one massive point of rebellion and then he will come back... These are the people who brought him proper and Alice would want him to stay with the Cullens...

The thought that Jasper was only there for Alice?? I think that at the start, yes. But now he has brotherly bonds with Emmett and Edward... and Carlisle and Esme have been so nice to him and stuff I dont hink he would just leave and never see them again

If Alice died, I think that Jasper wouldn't handle it well? But then again, how does one handle death well? I don't think that Jasper would stay with the Cullen's, but I don't think that he would return to his ways before he met the Cullen's either. I don't think that he would kill himself; he's stronger than we sometimes give him credit for and he's been through a lot. But I'm not sure if he would be able to stay with the Cullen's either, because they'd be such constant reminders of Alice.

i don't know what he'd do, to be perfectly honest. i agree that it would be incredibly hard for him to live without alice in any way, especially with the cullens. i can see him have a huge streak of rebellion, like edward,bite-me said, and then coming back, or i can see him trying to die. i don't think he'd be able to stay with the cullens, though. i mean, what would the others do if their soul mates left? carlisle or esme would stay with the family, but what about the others? we already know what edward would do, and i think bella would eventually do the same thing. maybe i'm wronging her, but i don't think she could bear not having edward, especially not now. i don't know about rosalie and emmett. stephenie said somewhere that they're more showy about their relationship, but alice and jasper's is deeper. even so, i think rosalie would at least stay vegetarian, if not with the cullens. emmett too, probably, to honor rosalie's memory.

and now back to jasper and alice. alice would probably at least try to stay with the cullens, though it would be really hard for her. and jasper? well, i don't think he'd stay. honestly, and i say this from the bottom of my heart with all the love in the world given to Jasper, i don't think he could do it. especially not with his ability to sense others' moods. he would sense the true love around him and know that he couldn't have any of his own.

rosalie and emmett are more showy, but their relationship is just as deep, dont doubt that.

and as to the last bit, jasper was born and trained military style, so another emotion that hed cop and not like would be pity for him. that would be really nasty for him.
